TacticalDrone Privacy Policy

Overview

TacticalDrone is an FPV video viewer and recorder for DJI goggles. Your video, photos, and flight data are stored locally on your device. Nothing about your flights leaves your device automatically. Two things do involve data leaving the device, both described below: (1) anonymous crash and usage diagnostics, and (2) content that you choose to share or export.

Anonymous Diagnostics (automatic)

To keep the app stable we collect anonymous, aggregated diagnostics through Google Firebase (Crashlytics and Analytics):

• Crash reports and diagnostics — stack traces, device model, OS version, and memory/battery state at the time of a crash.
• Anonymous usage events — which features are used and their outcome (for example: goggles connected, recording started, map opened). These are booleans, counts, and durations only. We never include names, descriptions, coordinates, serial numbers, or any free text.
• Anonymous install identifier — a random ID from Firebase that groups events from the same installation. It is not linked to your name, email, phone, or Google account. Uninstalling the app resets it.

This data is not tied to your identity. The app does not use advertising, does not collect the Advertising ID, and does not collect the Android ID (both are explicitly disabled). We do not sell or share this data with third parties; Google acts only as our data processor.

Location

With your permission, the app uses your device location to show a live map while you fly, to draw your flight trail, and to tag the position where a photo was captured. The app also receives the drone's position and heading from the goggles. This location information stays on your device unless you choose to share or export it (see below). Location is not sent to us and is not used for advertising. You can deny or revoke the location permission; the rest of the app continues to work.

Recordings and Photos

Video recordings and captured photos are stored locally on your device. They are never uploaded or shared automatically. You control them entirely, including saving them to your device gallery if you choose.

Sharing and Exporting (only when you choose)

The app gives you two ways to share content deliberately. Neither happens on its own:

• Live stream sharing — you can share your live video with a nearby second device over your own Wi-Fi hotspot or local network. The video travels directly device-to-device on your local link; it is not routed through our servers or any cloud service.
• Mission export (.tdmission) — you can export a mission as a single package and hand it to another device (for example via the Android share sheet, a messaging app, or a file transfer of your choosing). A mission package can contain your videos, photos, map pins, and the recorded drone and operator coordinates. Exporting is entirely your action; you decide when to export and where it goes. Likewise, you can import a mission package that someone else sends you.

Because these actions move location and media off your device, we disclose them here even though they are user-initiated and involve no cloud collection by us.

Maps

Maps are drawn by Mapbox. When the map is shown, map tiles for the area on screen are requested from Mapbox to render the map. In-app Mapbox usage/behavioral telemetry is turned off in this app. Offline map regions you download are stored on your device.

Permissions

• USB accessory — receive video from connected FPV goggles.
• Storage / media — save recordings and photos, and save to your gallery when you choose.
• Location (approximate and precise) — live map, flight trail, and photo geotagging, as described above.
• Nearby Wi-Fi devices / Bluetooth — set up device-to-device live sharing.
• Internet / Network state — upload anonymous diagnostics, request map tiles, and check for app updates.
• Notifications — show recording and sharing status.

Third-Party Services

• Google Firebase (Crashlytics, Analytics) — anonymous crash and usage diagnostics, as our data processor. (Firebase privacy policy)
• Mapbox — map rendering (map tiles); in-app behavioral telemetry disabled.
• Google Play In-App Updates & Billing — used to notify you of new app versions and to process optional one-time in-app purchases.

No data is shared with any other third party.

Children's Privacy

This app is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect data from them.

Data Deletion

Your recordings, photos, and missions are deleted when you delete them in the app or uninstall the app. Uninstalling also resets the anonymous diagnostics install identifier, and any past events remain anonymous and unlinked.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here.
